بارش ایک بہت بڑی نعمت ہے لیکن جب بارش مسلسل ہو اور پانی ذخیرہ کرنے کے ذرائع نا ہوں تو یہی پانی سیلاب کی  شکل اختیار کرلیتا ہے- سیلاب کی دیگر وجوہات میں درختوں کی کٹائی، جنگلات کی کمی، ڈیمز اور دریاؤں میں پانی کا ذخیرہ بڑھ جانا اور گلوبل وارمنگ شامل ہے-


سیلاب معاشرے پر مختلف طریقوں سے اثر انداز ہوتا ہے- مثلاً انسانی جانوں کا زیاں، مویشیوں کا نقصان، گھر بار کی تباہی،اور

آلودہ پانی کی وجہ سے بہت سے وبائی امراض کا پھوٹ پڑنا-


پاکستان کو اکثر سیلاب کا سامنا جولائی اور اگست کے مون سون کے موسم میں کرنا پڑتا ہے- مون سون کے موسم میں

بغیر وقفے کے لگاتار اور مسلسل بارشیں ھوتی ہیں جو کہ سیلاب کا سبب بن جاتی ہیں۔


پاکستان ایک زرعی ملک ہے- سیلاب کی وجہ سے زرعی زمین، فصلوں اورمویشیوں کا بہت نقصان ہوتا ہے-



پاکستان ایک ترقی پذیر ملک ہے جس کی وجہ سے یہاں مسائل کی بہتات ہے- یہاں پر نہ تو پانی کی نکاسی کا مناسب انتظام ہے نہ ہی مناسب سڑکیں ہیں ۔ ناقص منصوبہ بندی کی وجہ کئی جانوں کا زیاں ہو جاتا ہے بر وقت امداد نہ ملنے کی وجہ سے دور دراز علاقوں میں بہت تباہی ہو جاتی ہے-


دیہی علاقوں میں سیلاب کی تباہ کاریاں بہت زیادہ ہوتی ہیں- کچے مکانات گر جاتے ہیں، کھڑی فصلیں تباہ ہو جاتی ہیں،

گاؤں کا رابطہ شہروں سے منقطع ہو جاتا ہے، غذائی قلت پیدا ہو جاتی ہے اور اشیاء ضروریات کی کمی ہو جاتی ہے -


پاکستان ایک ترقی پذیر ملک ہے لیکن بر وقت فیصلوں سے ان مسائل پر قابو پایا جاسکتا ہے- مثلاً مون سون کے موسم کے شروع ہونے سے پہلے نالوں کی صفائی کی جائے، پانی کی نکاسی کا مناسب انتظام کیا جائے،  ڈیمز بنا کر پانی کا ذخیرہ کیا جائے، خدمات کے اداروں کو فعال کیا جائے اور ذرائع آمدورفت کو بہتر بنایا جائے- ماضی میں ہوئے نقصانات

کا باریک بینی سے جائزہ لے کر مناسب اور سخت ترین انتظامات کیے جائیں تو سیلاب تباہ کاریوں پر بڑی حد تک قابو پایا جاسکتا-
